Have you listed your glazing business on Google?

Getting your website to rank on Google is a problem that business owners from all industries, not just glazing, face. One free way you can appear front and center when someone searches for your business name is by listing your business, so it comes up on Google Search and Google Maps. If you operate locally, listing your business on Google is particularly important.

How it works

If you've listed your business, your contact details and chosen imagery will appear on the right-hand side on the search results page when people search for your business name:

This makes it much easier for prospects or existing customers to get hold of you or find your website. If they're searching from mobile they'll be able to call you instantly by tapping a button:

Great! How do I set it up?

Go to this link to get started: https://www.google.com/business

Fill out your business' contact information and if you like, tick the 'I deliver goods and services to my customers at their location' box. If you tick this, you'll be able to specify particular post codes or set a radius from your office of areas you serve.

Once you've added your business information, you'll need to verify that you own the listing. Google gives you a few options on how to do this, such as an instant phone call or a postcard in the mail.

Once you're verified, you can add the fun stuff that helps your Google ranking:

  • Categories — pick a couple that most accurately describe your business services
  • Business hours
  • An introductory paragraph that describes your key services (great for SEO)
  • Your logo and a few high quality photos

That's it! Your business listing should now be live, simply Google your business name to check.
