Tips for glaziers: produce beautiful graphics and documents with Canva

Don't underestimate the impact of great graphics, you can use them anywhere: on your glazing website, promotional material, and communications with customers. If your branded items are slick and distinctive, you'll always stand out from your competition.

We love sharing useful tips for glaziers, and we've already mentioned Canva in our Introduction to Facebook Pages for your Glazing Business article as a tool for designing Facebook cover images. But Canva isn't just for Facebook images, it can do pretty well anything and you don't need to be a designer to use it. Best of all, it's free!

Canva is a web-based application that is also available on iPad. What makes it so great for beginners is the range of preset sizes to choose from. They include almost every type of social media post and cover image, presentation slides, A4 and posters, infographics, brochures, business cards and more.

Select the design type you want and Canva will show a range of predesigned layouts to choose from if you so desire. You don't have to use these of course, but they make a great starting point if you're new to design. The editor is highly intuitive, simply drag elements like text boxes, shapes, icons or photos from the library onto your design, then resize and reposition to your heart's content.

As an example, we created some graphics in Canva for a fake glass company. In under half an hour we created a Facebook cover image, logo, business card, and gift voucher:

We used Canva's templates and picked colors and fonts to use across all of the items, then voilà! A suite of consistently branded and professional graphics for both print and digital use.

The Canva team claim it only takes 23 seconds to learn how to use it, why not take it for a whirl?
